The Higher School of Education of Paula Frassinetti (ESEPF), held by the Congregation of The Sisters of Saint Dorothy, is part of a wide network of teaching institutions in Portugal, Europe and the countries having Portuguese as their official language. In Portugal it is integrated with eleven teaching institutions property of the Congregation, having about 4.500 students, from pre-school to higher education. With regards to higher education, ESEPF is integrated with two other Faculties of the Congregation in Brazil (Recife and Nova Friburgo). Known for over 50 years, in Portugal, for its work in teachers’ training through bachelor, master and postgraduate study programs, ESEPF is also responsible for the professional development of collaborating mentors from more than 80 institutions, public and private, promoting annually over 70 pedagogically innovative degrees which qualify close to a thousand teachers from all levels of teaching. Teachers from ESEPF have hands-on experience as external experts to TEIP schools, provide support to schools under an autonomy contract, are part of teams which perform external evaluation of schools, school manual revisions among other activities. ESEPF integrates various teams and national consortia that develop applied research projects and participates and/or coordinates, since 2004, international EU-funded projects related to educational research.
